Slo, DG, sorry about the crit.
On Sunday I managed a quick 25k with wind and rain, just enough to work up a hunger for agnello and primitivo. On Monday 45k. Over Easter I totaled 130k with 1610m of climbing. I guess the average speed was somewhere around 24.5 which is not bad given the wind and the vertical. I would have liked to have gone further, but that's all I had time for. I rode at lunch Tuesday. I did the circuit at 29.7kph on my road bike, which was not bad considering I was solo and the wind was against me all the way round (did I say it was all uphill?).

They said it would rain and it did. For about 5 minutes. Sunny for the rest of the day. I took the car to Monopoli and rode 65k with 900m vertical. There was a stiff breeze in my face on the climbs. The avg was pretty leisurely 23.3. Max 70.4 on the decent. No powerbars and not enough water. Got to stock up.

Rain. No water in the showers. Good thing we checked first. No riding today. Forcast is for rain all Easter. I have tendinitis in my right hand and that's a bummer. I hope it won't hinder my training over this rainy four day weekend.

Not willing to ride a nervous twisty crit in the ice and snow? I thought you Candian bike bloggers were tougher than that? I didn't let the bright sun, intense heat and the gentle alluring breeze get in my way while thrashing my MTB around my lunch circuit today now did I?

My buddy had his road bike so I just tucked in behind and turned the cranks. Avg speed 28.

Feel sorry for me guys: It was almost too hot this weekend, I am not used to it yet. Phenomenal weather. I broke out the sun screen and was able to cut loose enough time for two short rides, my first this year on the road bike.

Saturday: 30k, 350m vertical. My favourite training circut, slo and beets know what i am taking about.
Sunday: Circuit x 2. 46k, 700m vertical. Avg speed 25.6.

It felt great to be back on my old hog. The hills were tough. I have the wind from running, but am missing the muscle mass to really push hard. Another thing, after all the mountain biking my 39x25 felt really tall. And to think i used to power up that slope with a 42x23. It was sobering first step, considering 9 colli in two months and blockhaus just around the corner.

was going through the old blog notes. last year at this time I had done a couple of longer rides and a lot more training at lunch. But i was a kilo heavier and hadn't done so much running. I am still hoping to be in better shape this year.

Slo, good luck on the crit.

Sorry DG... but it just keeps getting worse. Today it was sunny, again, and at least 20°. It seemed hotter on the hills. We did a wicked 40 min offroad ride with three steep climbs. I hope the weather holds till the weekend.

Sorry about the weather DG. I almost feel bad about telling you that it was another gorgeous day today. I hope it holds til the weekend. I hauled the MTB around the circuit again today. A great little ride.

Gorgeous weather this week end. Sunny and it must have been 18°.
I ran for 45 min along the coast to a large lighthouse and back. Today my back hurts, so i rode the MTB around the 16k road circuit. I am wondering if i should drop the running races from my spring schedule... only 68 days till the 9 Colli.

It snowed last night but it's sunny and warm now (9°c). Yesterday at lunch I did 16k w 2 hill repeats, today I did 12k offroad. 1 long steep climb. I was in much better shape the last time this climb, in December. Lots of work to do still.

I switched MTBs with my pal Ignaz'. His bike is better. Less rolling resistance and a better riding position. He still dropped me on the climb though, that's what i get for laying off the riding. 16k, 180m vertical, 6°. I will mount the GPS so i can give you the time. My legs feel like driftwood.

Pedala, pedala, e pedala. A bike blog

Hey, nice wheels. DG will dig them. I find the "thatched" spoke pattern particularly fetching. Sort of the antithesis of radial minimalism. Look for it on next year's Bora wheelset.

For my blog, just cut and past either of my last two. I am stuck in a winter rut. -12 C this morning. Shinny tonight, just one week of it left, then the damn snow better melt. Reluctantly looking forward to taking a severe beating from DG in his July-esque racing form. I'll use the classic for the first ride or two. That will give me the excuse I need.

Slo

16k at lunch with the MTB, 3° with a hard cold wind. 250m vertical with a hill repeat on the 14%.
Man that felt good.

Happy to help you out with the bike there DG. I wouldnt want you complaining about being left behind because your wheels were too heavy.... so I made some calls, pulled some strings, and managed to line up this ultrlight bike just perfect for climbing.

No need to thank me now... you can wait till we get to the top.

Wow DG. Your way to fast already. I am asking for an hour head start on any climb.... I still havn't broken out the road bike, but I have been running. Italy is under a blanket of snow right now, except for where I live. I'ts been down to minus three though, which is pretty cold for this neck of the woods. Yesterday i ran 7.5k @ 4 min per k mashing on the hills. Weight's pegged at 8o kilos, I am fitter than I was this time last year, but I am behind on my cycling. Hope to remedy that soon.
